PROJECT DESIGN The data handling capabilities of a GIS enable the analysis and assessment of many potential infrastructure designs allowing for the optimal site design to be selected. This should allow for the development to achieve the maximum output possible. When considering project design it is important to analyse a number of different factors, such as water depth, sand bank positions, prevailing wind direction/strength, seabed slope and seabed geology.
